Eating Disorders

Many of us use food to deal with difficult or painful emotions. While it does help temporarily, very often we're left with feelings of shame, self criticism, and physical discomfort that can lead us right back to the painful cycle of emotional eating. I am a member of The Center For Mindful Eating and have received training from The Center For Mindfulness at The University of California at San Diego. I teach techniques of mindfulness and mindful eating to help people heal from the cycle of binge eating and compulsive eating. Together we can learn what triggers you to eat emotionally, and to explore what you're really hungry for at those times. There are no diets or food plans involved. This therapy focuses on increasing self-compassion,while decreasing shame and judgment or criticism. Mindfulness offers us tools we can use when difficult emotions arise. Practicing mindful eating can allow us to improve our relationship with food, and enjoy and savor all the activities related to preparing, sharing and eating food.
